Personally i get the stain wet with some hot water cover it with baking soda. Mix 1 4 teaspoon 1 2 ml of white vinegar or non bleach detergent with 1 us quart 0 95 l of water. Bleaching a carpet is permanent and cannot be undone. Spray undiluted white vinegar onto the carpet and let sit until you have achieved the desired color.

Never use bleach on a wool carpet. Once lightened floor coverings can be easily dyed any color including white.
